what ignition system changes need to be made on a modified 305
Hey, I have a 1986 FireBird 305 4brrl, which I have recently changed the intake manifold and carb on, I switched from the stock intake to an edelbrock performer intake <because i somehow managed to break a bolt while changing the thermostat which I then broke an easy out in
> I also replaced the 750-800cfm quadrajet with a 600cfm edelbrock performer. My question is, since i removed the old carb all the things the ECM used to control have been unplugged, now I am having issues with fine tuning the timing, Is there somethign that was not attached to the quadrajet that is allowing the ECM to still control the distributor? and if so can it be unplugged or bypassed somehow? also since upgrading parts I have been told I need to increase the gap on my spark plugs to 40 can anyone confirm if this needs to be done or not?
