I was told it was 3.73 and I heard someone else say to run the (auto) tranny at 75 in 4th. It brought up 3.73, Seems right but I always thought my speedo was off. Is this right? BTW thanks in advance.

No, an auto you put it in 3rd and do 70. If you tach 3730 then you have 3:73.

If you have posi jack up the rear till the wheels are off the ground put the tranny in neutral turn the wheels one revolution and count how many times the driveshaft turns 3 and 3/4 will be 373 a bit more than 4 will be 410 and 3 and 1/4 is 323. the gear ratio is a decimal equivilant and should accually read 1:3.73

 

i guess i'm slow to catch on to these new ways of doingthings, i like to pull the cover and look at the ratio stamped on the ring gear. gives me a chance to look around and change the oil and posi additive.
