Fuel pump, I think...

ok, here we go....

Just got it back from the shop, started just fine, drove just fine. Drove it to work, parked it, won't start. Here is what I KNOW:

1) No pressure. Jumped the ALDL port to get it to prime the pump, nada. Gauge shows nothing. Bought replacement relay, still nothing. Also, no priming when car is turned to "On".

2) Battery voltage is fine. No blown fuses.

Car just ranks and cranks. I think that pretty much makes it a fuel pump, right?

P.S.: On a side note, anyone in the Denver area want to help me change it? I'll buy the beer!

By the way, car is an 89 Turbo Trans Am

Check the fuse up by the battery.

Cranking and cranking shuld close the oil pressure switch (assuming it's okay) and allow the pump to turn on.

If anything, do check voltage at the pump prior to replacing it

There is no fuse by the battery. The oil pressure gets up to about 10 or more and it still does nothing but crank. I checked ALL the fuses I could find.

Interesting. Do you have power at the pump line?

If it is the Firebird, correct me if I am wrong, but is the fuel pump/ECM memory fuse up against the radiator side support? Camaro's were on the fender, by the battery.

However, also, does the ALDL not also bypass the fuse? So yea, check the voltage at the pump and if that is good to go, start lowering the rear....

Well, I hear the clicking of the relay when I turn the key, but no fuel pressure. The clicking is coming from the fuel pump relay. Guess I'll have to check the voltage at the fuel pump connector today.

disconnect a gas line, crank, see if gas shoots out.

Damn, I wish I lived by you, I'd help you out for beer, I just replaced a fuel pump yesterday.
