the plastic mounts on my 89 formulas hatch are broken and i was wondering was there a way to convert it to non-electric.

 

You can go to a junkyard and get an electric one (or non-electric.)

The mounting pattern is different for a non pull-down hatch release. The plastic housing and gear nut are available from GM. I've machined drop-in replacement guides from solid nylon (much stronger than the OEM molded ones) and am selling them. So if your motivation to swap it out is a perceived lack of parts, the parts are indeed available.

found it at my local dealership for $20.00

just call them up tell the you want the case not the motor...
