Spark Plug Wires?? 8mm or 8.8mm
Would it really be worth it to buy Accel's 8.8mm 300+ Race wires over their regular superstock 8mm. What would be the advantages, I can get either for the same price, but that's all this is available locally, I'm off at college and I'm in the middle of nowhere.

aceel wires are crap. i had 8.8s, they have to much resistance, i only use Moroso Blue max 8mm wires

I have the Moroso on their now, but like a cheap idiot I never bought wire looms, and several are no good due to laying on the headers. But I now have looms and heat protective sleeving that will be here tomorrow. And what do you mean by too much resistance, sorry for a stupid question?

I have Accel 8.8s in my car. I'm not a poster child for Accel or anything, but they are working just fine for me and were EXTREMELY affordable for me when I got them due to some classified friendships....
...... hehe. And the ability of the wire to live and function in an extreme heat condition is much more indicative of it's quality than it's resistance @ 9 volts........

I've never used the Accel 300+, but I can say that their cheaper wires suck bigtime. Had 3x the resistance of my old factory wires and two broke when I was taking them off. I've got Morosos on my truck. They're OK, but kinda a pain to get off the plugs. By far the best I've ever used is MSD. They are awesome and I will never buy anything else. Get MSD and you won't be disappointed.

I agree. Most people agree that MSD 8.5mm and the Moroso larger wires are very good. I was all set to buy the MSD 8.5mm wires, but I just couldn't justify how much more they were than what I was able to get the 8.8 Accel set for at that time. They are just plugwires and I am a full time student now!!
I've had a few bad experiences with those regular Accel wires. One of my friends brought over those 'Super Stock' or whatever wires for me to help him with a few years ago and we screwed around with them a bit and found them to dislike being removed - AT ALL. The plug boots just fell apart and their crimping job was less than stellar. Straight to the $hitcan they want..... We picked up a set of Moroso wires and they worked great and are still alive on his car. They were both cut-to-fit wire sets.... that is all I will work with as the 'custom' fit ones do fricken loops around the fender wells half the time and look like a$$. Other than looking a he11 of a lot nicer than the 'custom' fit ones, the cut-to-fit ones allow you to keep the length down on them, and subsequently, the resistance down........... But like I said, the resistance of the wire that is read on a DVOM that sends less than 9 volts through the wire can be very misleading.......

I also agree accell wires are crap. I had good luck with MSD, but actually found Summit's generic spiral core wires (universal) to last (still on car, still getting cooked by headers for years)
They are cheaper and they come with a very half decent crimper to put the wire ends together.

There's nothing weak about 150 ohms per foot, and thats exactly what my 300+'s are.
These wires might be over kill, unless your running a high energy ignition system.
Ron
Accel 300+ wires
Accel Cap & rotor
MSD HEI HO coil
MSD 6AL

I would suggest the Accel 300+ race wires. They are the best set of wires I've ever had, they are 8.8mm and cost around $60 from Jegs.

stock size is 8mm? wow... i just pulled off my wires in exchange for some MSD SC wires(still got 4 to go) and those little skinnies were only 7mm. Dang, now i hope it can rev a lil higher seeing that the old ones weren't even stock size...

The question at the start of this thread is just fine, but why oh why do folk think one solution, or whatever they've got fits all!
Mark A Shields: The answer to your question is that the 300+ racewire is overkill for your engine. As is MSD etc. Accell Superstock Spiral is a reasonably priced upgrade from stock, so go for it.
Si. :lala:
ps. Will anyone that just wants to add a comment about I've got this/ thats crap etc etc etc go to the other lets bitch about accell threads and not clog up a perfectly reasonable question!
