A.I.R and O2 question..

A.I.R and O2 question..

since the air thing is injecting air into the exhaust, then wouldn't that raise the oxygen content in the exhaust, therefore causing the O2 sensor to compensate, (or maybe the comp expects this) but if u disconnected the AIR system, then its not doing its job, and there is less O2. so wouldn't that screw things up a little? I mean i know the function of the AIR system is to help burn unburned fuel and stuff in the exhaust, but the O2 sensor is so close to the manifolds. Im sorry if this is a stupid question.

The diverter valve puts the air into the manifolds in open loop operation, and the cat in closed loop.
