to egr or not
to egr or not
Hi again, I know I've been asking alot of questions but I want to make sure this swap, which im performing tomorrow, gets done right. Okay so my question is this, im buying my manifold tomorrow, a performer, and I can either get it in EGR or nonEGR which you probably know. Now I want the nonegr for two reasons, less clutter without the egr stuff, and its a little cheaper too. Now, will I have problems with detonation or anything of the sort if i dont go egr? It's a 350 with a XE262, and a QJet.
If you recurve your distributor's timing curve you will have no problems running without EGR. There's an article on this website that can help you do this. It's cheap, easy and worth some power, too. It deals with the popular GM HEI distributor but the timing curve info would apply to any distributor going in a SBC.

thanks, i went for the nonegr and saved some money, plus if EGR was causing my old engine to backfire (was 1 of the possiblities) then that elimantes that as something that it might have been
