Free up some hp... for free?

Just a question, if I was to remove the AC belt, and smog pump belt from the car, how much of an increase if any would I notice?
Would this cause any problems with the car?

Probably little to no noticable improvement.

The AC compressor doesn't drag the engine down at all unless the AC is on and the compressor is pumping. When the AC clutch disengages, the pulley freewheels.

The smog pump, if you don't have strict emission laws, should be removed and thrown away. It's soul purpose is to inject air into the exhaust system when the engine is cold to bring down emissions. Once the engine is at operating temperatures, the smog pump does nothing but is still pumping in an unloaded state.

You'll find more free HP by converting your power steering to manual steering. The hydraulic pump puts more of a load on the engine than a freewheeling AC and smog pump combined.

I was going to mention a few of the "freebies" , but you're in california, that's about the strictest emissions laws around right?

ne'er mind then.

This question has been covered numerous times. As much as I hate being told to run a search, it's really necessary in such common questions as this. But in answer to your question, very little power would be gained.

Why don't you take your thread in another direction then, what can you do for free hp? (again, this has been asked before, so a search will still help...) but maybe you can get some helpful info on that one...

Timing is one.

I noticed a fairly good gain when I removed just the belt off my smog pump. Used a smaller belt is all. However I think the bearing might have been bad so thats probably where my gains came in at.

But what I'm interested in is how you convert your power steering pump, into manuel....

Some people remove the entire pump system and put a hose loop between the 2 ports on the steering box. Although this will work, it still takes a lot of effort to turn the steering without power assist.

The easier way is to remove everything related to power steering including the box and install a manual steering box from an S10. The 84-92 S10 boxes are a direct bolt in but you should use the f-body pitman arm to keep the same steering geometry. The earlier S10 boxes may work but they're an earlier, smaller design and I have idea if the input or the sector shafts are the same size as the late model boxes.
