Fuseable link Questions
Fuseable link Questions
I am trying to find out why my car wont start last night on the way home my 92 Firebird 3.1 V6 just shut down on the freeway. Everything else in the car works. I have checked all of the fuses under the dash in the fuse block and they are all good. MTCCL said he thought it might be the fuseable link. I found two of them on the passenger side under the hood down by the air box. How can I tell which one I should be checking for the fuel pump or fuel pump relay. They both have an orange wire then the link then the wire goes to red. On one of the links it has a 20 on it and the other has 16. Both have writing on the orange wire one has just the words fuseable link and the has 1.0 sq mm fuseable link. The car just will not start. She turns over fine but acts like she isn't getting any gas. When I initially turn the key to the on position I can here the fuel pump or somthing in the back turn on and run for about 1-2 secs and then shuts down.

The fuel pump will whirr like that for a few seconds when the car's in the ON position and then stop. It does this to get pressure to the injectors. If your fuel pump is working, it's not going to be a fuse related to the pump.
See if you're getting any spark.

Just check to see if there is any spark from the plug wires to the plug and there is not. Now I am stumped. I was hopping for an easy fix and be back on the road tomorrow. After the Neb/Okla game but alas I will still be troubleshooting. this dang thing
