Ah yes, the 'ol stuck headlights
Ah yes, the 'ol stuck headlights
Won't go down? I never would have thought!
.....
Anyways, Go to put the headlights down (the car sits, so naturally problems accumulate) for the first time in awhile, and they won't go. All I can hear is somewhere in the engine compartment (it does sound like near the passenger side headlight) is "click clickclick." Lights turn on, just won't go down. I immediately thought the gears must have finally worn, but they still turn by hand. I don't know if they can break, and still be able to turn by hand?
Thoughts?
*disclaimer: Searched and oddly enough not many posts about such.

They can break, one of mine did like that. However, it's far more likely you have a bad relay/relays or the headlight control module up on the firewall is bad. Check all connections for corrosion and wires for crimps, cuts, etc as well. If all turns up clean, open the passenger side motor and check for destroyed bushings, unless you've already changed them in the not too distant past. If the passenger side is bad, likely the driver is too since both won't go up. My first guess though is those relays/modules. I bet you'll find your problem there.
