flexplate question...
flexplate question...
boy im just full of questions tonight....the engine i wanna get, (fast burn 385) comes with a 168 tooth flexplate, the torque converter i wanna get says (153 TOOTH ONLY!!!) what is the difference? what one do i want? and also i was lookin at them, and whats the difference between external and internal balance?
If the 168 tooth flexplate is a "dual bolt pattern" flexplate it will bolt right up. Dual bolt pattern means it is drilled for the standard (larger diameter) 168 bolt pattern plus (smaller diameter) 153 tooth bolt pattern.
When I say "bolt pattern" I mean the 3 bolt holes where the converter "arms" bolt to the flexplate, not where the flexplate bolts to the crankshaft.
If it's not a dual bolt pattern flexplate on your engine you can either change your choice of converter or purchase a dual bolt pattern flexplate for your engine from Summit for about $60.
