So... Have Vortec heads become a popular upgrade for 305s?

Are there a lot of guys putting vortec heads on 305s? This seems to me like a home run. You can run them on the 305 until you're ready for a 350 (or it blows up), then put the heads straight onto the 350.

You'd lose some compression on the 305, or else you could have a minor cut to get the chambers down to 60cc or something so the compression won't be to high when they go on the 350. But it seems like it'd be worth it.

More than 2 - yes.

They work but if you need a fresh shortblock I'd hold out for the larger cubes. Mine is at 190K and still runs strong, especially as I continue to get the tuning better.
