Fuel pump and fuel system help, real bad.
yesterday when i was installing my system into my car i noticed a buzzing coming from the back of the trunk. i just had the key turned to where the electrical things work int he car but it was not running. i have noticed the bussing before and thaugh nothing of it because i couldn't find where it was comming from. well yesterday i found where it is comming from my holley fuel pump. the pump was on there when i baught the car. there was a puddle of gas under the pump about a foot and a half round. what could be the problem. and could this cause the car not to get enough gas to where it will backfire through the carb. Should i get a new fuel system from summit minus the tank so i know what i am working with now. or jsut have the pump checked out. addventually i am going to have new everything in this car from the radiator back. so i am thinking to go witht he complete fuel system. please help on this one.

Looks like another Holley Blue pump has bit the dust. These pumps never seem to last very long on a street car. The were never designed to have to run continously. The seals soon start to leak or the motor fails.
We won't get into the inevitable flooding problems. (pressure creep thru the regulator)
Don't bother tring to repair it. Replace it with a Hiflow mechanical 6-9 psi pump.
(edelbrock, holley, barry grant). It will have more than enough flow and just enough pressure for your motor. It will run quite,
last a lot longer, is much safer and is less expensive...

If ya have to ask, maybe it would be better to have a mechanic do this for ya. Or get some help from a buddy with more mechanical experience. Be sure to install a good inline fuel filter while your doing this upgrade.
Good Luck......
