305 bore question

305 bore question

i have a quick question. i have a chevy 305 out of a 92 camaro 2 bolt main. my question is can i have that engine drilled out to be a 4 bolt main and can a 305 be bored out to a 383?

4-bolt conversion, yes.

383, no. The much smaller bore of the 305 (3.736") will only give you about 332ci if used with the same crank you would put in a 350 to make it into a 383 (3.75" stroke). You can't bore out a 305 block anywhere near enough to get to the 4.030" bore you'd need to make a 383.
