Radiator Fan problem

i got an 84 z28 305. today i noticed my fan wasnt kicking on at all. the owner before me wired it up somehow to keep the fan running at all times. when i turn the key into the accessory position, the fan usually comes on full blast. now all i hear is a clicking sound from what seems like from under the air cleaner around the carb from somewhere. while its in the accessories position, i can turn the fan by hand and it will start going, but at like half the normal fan speed. does this sound like a faulty fan or relay or what? thanks.

Clicking is from fan relay. Fan is faulty; from running 100% of the time.

I bought my car used,I found the fans wired to stay on, and the high-temp switch had been bypassed.
I bought new fans, and corrected the wiring, the engine constantly over heated until I put in a new engine & radiator (and sealed around it,) 170° stat, and reprogrammed the ECM fan on/off parameters.

T into your green w/ white wire thats coming from the fan relay. Hook up that wire to a switch, and hook up the other end of the switch to a ground. Than turn the switch on, and you comand when the fan comes on.

I had it set up like this forever, and belive me, its the way to go. No need to spend any extra money for those stupid switches that go into the pass. head. Just get that green white wire controlled by you!
Best way and cheapest way to go.

Cheap but annoying, and if you forget to turn it on then cause your car to overheat, your in deep #*%(.

Just try to test or replace some relays or temp sensors that cause the fan to turn on at a certain temp. If you still cant solve it you might search jegs.com or summitracing.com for these key words "Fan relay kit"
