my clutch clicks when i step on it too, but mine comes from the pedal. it's off an '84 donor car, and very worn. the master cylinder shaft and the pedal stud have actually worn slots in each other causing them to pop into place if i put any lateral pressure on the pedal.

if youre sure its coming from under the car, there's not much you can do to examine the throwout without pulling the transmission off the bellhousing. while youre down there, you might as well check out the fingers on the pressure plate to make sure they are all straight and wearing correctly.

pulling the tranny isnt hard. it should only take you about an afternoon. let me know if you need the step by step.

by the way, if you do decide to replace the thowout bearing, its probably a good idea to replace the whole clutch shebang, as long is its the same age as the bearing. that way, you wont have to tear it apart again shortly down the road to replace the clutch. getting stuck replacing the bearing and the clutch at seperate wear out intervals would be a PITA. just my

the thing is when i bought the car it just got a new crate motor put in it so i am sure he might of put a new clutch in. if not i plan on some type of motor swap and i'm going to upgrade the clutch of course but i just want to be able to cruise with no worries until i store it.

thanks again
