Weird?

I went to get gas today and gave the cashier 60$ .I got 91 octane and started filling up.I thought it would start to top off around 15 gallons or so.But it kept flowing, took a 60$ worth of gas,18.993 gallons to be exact(3.15$ /g)

Im stumped,I thought our tanks only held 16 gallons or so.So why did mine take almost 19 gallons I was bone dry empty when I rolled in but still.

It was for my White 83 CFI BTW.

Ive never had this happen with my blue car ever

So my question is....is this normal? Do I have a leak somewhere and its escaping through there?I look under the car all the time and see no gas.So if there was a leak does the gas evaporate into thin air as soon as it makes contact with air Maybe that will explain why I never see gas on the floor.

Or maybe the previous owner installed a larger gas tank

Yeah sure sounds like a scam, but most gas stations are smart enough to make it a little less obvious. Your not gonna miss seeing or smelling 3 gallons of gas on the ground.

Your car definately did not take that much gas. Stock, your car would have been pouring gas all over the ground. At least 9-10 dollars worth. At 3 dollars a gallon, for the past few weeks, on empty, my car takes 40-45 dollars to fill up(when it was 25 dollars a couple years ago! ) You've been ripped off, intentially or otherwise.

you've been had... no way that tank held that much, especially if you drove it to the pump.
