spark plug wiring is sparking against the header

they're msd super conductor 8.5 wires, i'm ordering the kit to make my own from summit now. but the wire is sparking against the header, its burnt to the wire in one spot. is it alright to drive like this for a few days until the kit gets here or should i just drive without that cylinder?

can i have damaged anything from this happening? i dont know how long its been going on.

Any time a spark jumps off the wire to something else, before the plug, the plug loses it's spark - dead cylinder.

Looms, guides, whatever you want to call them are there for a reason...

It needs to be fixed while you drive it. A dead hole will wash the rings out of that cylinder. Insulate it with some tape and tie it up away from the header until your new wires get here. When you get your new wires run them neatly and away from the headers. I ran mine under the headers, they were a cut to fit kit and I made them nice and tight so they're hidden and far enough away so they don't burn.

Engine will run but it will have a bad miss at certain speeds. For a short time pull the plug wire away from the headers.

I like how you ran your wires. I have my new wires that I need to cut to length. I think I will take yours into serious consideration.

I like that routing too, when it works. It doesn't always with all headers though, but it's great when it works. It's not far from the factory routing either, on the driver's side at least.....

Maybe those guys at GM actually did have a clue about a thing or 2 about their car.
