I am having a clickin sound in my engine, and people tell me it may be spark knock. What exactly is that, and what are the problems that come from it. How do test to see if it is spark knock? All responces are greatly appreciated since i am havin trouble here.

does it make the clicking at idle? if it does, then it is not spark knock. i read your other posts. when you changed the oil and it got better, that would indicate an oiling problem. like another post said posiible collapsed lifter of at least clogged. because when you changed the oil it got better. an engine oil flush is an additive you put in the oil, run for 5 minutes and then drain and replace the oil and filter. it breaks down deposits.

 

The clickin actually seemed to get worse now, and yes, it does happen in idle. U think this flush will fix the problem, if not im assumin some part is broken.

A clicking sound could be from some component not being oiled properly or an exhaust leak. When does the clicking sound occur? Can you tell us the history of the engine?

Spark knock is when combustion happens too early because of too advanced timing or too low octane fuel, "knocking" the piston back. It sounds more like a thumping sometimes. Knocking typically wouldn't start happening out of the blue.

Also, have you noticed a loss in performance?

I do have an exhaust leak, but the car is dying when i try to start it, would an exhaust leak really cause the car to die, and for the tickin noise. The car ignition was redone in the summer, and at the time they told me i had it, its been tickin for a while, but was never so loud and it didnt kill the car when i start it. So i dont know.
