Are these springs ok for me??

I'm getting my cam chnged and have also upgraded the springs. It's a crane compucam (powermax now) p#104224 and the spring reccomendations are:

* 1.255 in. O.D. of outer
* 0.870 in. I.D. of outer
* 105 lbs. at 1.700 in. seat pressure at installed height
* 296 lbs. at 1.200 in. open pressure and height
* 1.153 in. coil bind
* 382 lbs./in. average spring rate
* For use with hydraulic or mechanical cam
* With damper
* Use your specific cam application when choosing the correct valve spring.

However, when I was ordering the cam I asked the guy as Sumit for suitable springs and he told me that the following would do. They are comp cams springs summit p# cca-981-16. The specifications are:

Single spring, 1.250 in. outer diameter with damper. .880 in. inside diameter, 389 spring rate, valve springs

Inside diameter: .880
Seat load: 110 at 1.700
Open load: 285 at 1.250
Coil bind: 1.130
Rate: 389

The specifications are slightly different, but will they be ok to use with my cam?

Thanks in advance for the help guys.

Best bet is to call Crane and see what they recommend that you use.

The specs are close enough to be considered the same.

After looking at the specs, I'd go with the ones summit recommended. They're actually just a little bit better.

You wouldn't notice any difference if you used either one.

Spring manufacturers can't have the exact same spring specs. It's probably because of patents. They make springs that are very close in specs to the competitions so you have choices as to whos springs you want to use.

I agree with Stephen, the Comp spring is the superior one. It will work fine with that cam.
