I remeber reading somewhere that it is not a good idea to reuse your head bolts too many times. I know these heads have been takin off atleast 2 times, but the bolts look fine. Should I even worry about it?

depends on the type of bolt, there are some that will be unreusable the first time u torque them down. while others WILL work longer but its probably not good.

You can get away with using them over on stock rebuilds. I would change them if I were doing a performance rebuild, i.e. increased compression. They are not that expensive unless you go with the moly 12 point heads or studs.

SBC head bolts are reuseable and don't have a limit on the number of times they can be used. a lot of newer engines come with torque to yeild head bolts. they're torqued to the yeild point for maximun holding and are not reused. the yeild point is where the metal stretches and if it goes more it deforms, or breaks, at the yeild point it would return to "normal". you can tell a torque to yeild bolt by a torque spec like 45 ft/lbs + 25* or 45 ft/lbs and a 1/4 turn more.

cool, that was what I was getting confused with. This is a stock rebuild, so if anything I will be loseing a little compression for the lack of carbon everywhere. Thanks for the advice
