Changing belts and hoses
I was watching Motorweek yesterday and the Moss' Garage segment recommended that belts and hoses be replaced every 4 years or 60k miles due to interior deterioration. My car has 8500 miles on it and is 15 years old with all the original belts and hoses. Is this recommendation being made like change the oil every 3k miles or is it legit. If so, I have to do this on 3 cars. Any info is appreciated

I would change the belts and hoses after
15 yrs even on your low milage car. However;
I would not go as far as replacing belts and hoses every 4 yrs. Depends on how the car is kept up in my opinion.

Usually I just look at the belts for wear such as cracking, signs of threads coming off, or slippage. Every application will be a little different depending on the weather where you live and the amount of wear you put on them in a given timeframe. My opinion would be "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
