Hi all,

This is probably a simple question, needing a simple answer. When I install the rubber seal into the one piece aluminium housing, which way round does it go? Does the side of the seal where you can see the spring, face towards the front of the engine when installed, or towards the rear? I think it faces towards the front of the engine but it's difficult to get the lip of the seal over the end of the crank.

Help would be appreciated.

You're right. Spring to the front of the engine.

And that's the point of making the seal difficult to get around the crank. It makes it difficult for oil to get past there once it's installed.

Use a thin film or RTV on both sides of the gasket between the RMS adapter and the block. Also use thread sealer on the nuts/bolts that hold it to the block. Use RTV wherever there may be a leak I think I even put a thin flim around the gap where between the seal itself and the adapter, just a little bit pressed into the groove.
