Future Buildup, would Like some Suggestions!!
First things first say you had between $5000-6000 to spend on the motor, tranny and suspension. I'm not sure if it would be worth it to put all these mods on to my motor and rebuild it all later or just get a fresh block and build it over time. For one I don't think my internals of the engine would be worth saving, but I'm no expert. I would like to be in the high 12s and not get 8mpg. I want some aluminum heads, but I have no idea what to get. I saw some in Summit for $800-900. Then there would be the cam selection, again no idea what to get. Intake I was thinking an Edelbrock Performer RPM $200. Aluminum water pump to save weight $90. Is it possible to use a Paxton Supercharger on a carburetor. I was thinking of going with the Holley Street Avenger $350. How much would the supercharger run, I was thinking around $2500, but does that include all the necessary accessories. Or there is a Holley charger that fits under most stock hoods for $2000. Now if I stick with the motor I have now, would my stock pistons be able to handle this or setup properly. Then I would need to buy a rebuild kit I guess, what do they run about $800 (sorry I don't have the summit book in front of me). Then there's the crank I like the idea of a stroker, but if I destroke I could rev a lot higher. Which would be a better match for what I want. For the tranny I would get the Transgo Reprogramming kit $170, a higher stall TC $300(not sure of price.) And I would ditch the Edelbrock headers for some SLP ones $500. I could probably stick with my cat-back or would that be choking the engine. Gee, this stuff gets pricey huh. But I also need to allow money for new shocks and suspension mods, what would that run? Also there are some seats that I want $400 a piece. If I had to I could ditch the supercharger idea, but without it I would like to be running very low 13's. Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated, I would just like to get some ideas for the future, when I'm done with college. Or maybe even try to start on a few now.

Woah, lots of questions... A rebuild kit from Summit costs around $400, and that's with forged pistons. If you really want to get good gas mileage you ought to go with some sort of fuel injection, especially if you have that much money to spend on it. TPI would be a good, straighforeward conversion, but you'd definitely have to get an aftermarket intake for it, like the superram or the miniram. Or maybe you should consider that ramjet thing that GM came out with. I read an article on it in the new camaro performers mag and it sounded pretty good. Or maybe an LT1. Personally I'd keep the Edelbrock headers. Slightly biased advice here, but I happen to hate SLP with a passion. And it may not be worth the extra 8 hp for the $500 price tag.

Estimate what you're going to spend on parts then add about 30% to the cost. There are a lot of little nickle and dime things that you'll never know about until you start building. I was expecting to spend $5000 on my engine last winter. When it was finally installed the bill was closer to $8000.

Hopefully this winters projects won't get out of hand.

One more thing to add, I would be putting this motor or adding parts to the already installed motor. This car is my daily driver until I'm done with college and get a real job. So, should I just buy the parts and use the block I have or would it be more beneficial to buy a new block?

If it's your daily driver then your #1 consideration ought to be whether or not the stock components can handle the power you're putting out. Meaning that you don't want to end up with pieces of your engine's bottom end or your drivetrain all over the road. For my daily driver I built up a fairly strong 350. I had the option of building a stroker, but decided I didn't trust the 10 bolt. I also passed on the paxton for the old 305 because with 135K it seemed too risky.
