Trak auto is going out of business. I can get a rebuilt 350 from them for $1078. On it it says 5.7 91-93 police equipped it is a long block and comes with all of the gaskets for transfering the intake, dist, valve covers, oil pan, etc. I figure that this is a roller cam block with at least 9 to 1 compression. is this worth getting? it would have to just sit for now because I need a new tranny before i add more motor. I figured that i could swap the cam, eventually put on different heads, and have quite a motor.

the biggest diff is that it's gonna have the newer heads with the 87'-up style bolt pattern on it. That' not a huge deal. All you gotta do is elongated the holes on the 4 center bolt holes on your intake that you have now. Or buy a newer style intake for those heads. The only problem with that is they're usually more expensive.

That and it's a one piece rear main seal. I'm not sure how complicated that is, but you may want to go to the "motor swap" board and ask, if you haven't already. All I do know for sure is that the flexplate won't swap. Other than that, I think it's OK. But you better check just to be sure.

BTW, that's a pretty good price. Just don't squirt a 250lb shot of NOS in there.
