Vortec block? stroked & .30 over
I have a motor that was bought at a speedshop and put in my old 89 formula. It has vortec heads, but could it have a vortec block. In my quest for stroking the motor, a diferent machiene shop guy said that if it was a vortec block scrap it and get one from a junkyard because they're too thin. Is this true? I plan on stroking it, ans boring it .30. someday hopefully even a little nitrous. What should i look for to see if i can do these things to my block?

Some of the vortec blocks cannot be turned into strokers. The area under the bores is too thick with no extra meat to grind away. In short you cannot make connecting rod clearance in the block.
As far as the rest of the block goes, the vortec block is one of the best.
