do i need spring cups?

im assembling a set of dart 200/64cc iron eagle platinum heads and had a quick question. The spring pocket is much bigger in diameter than my valve springs are, and i obviously need to shim them to get the 1.750 installed height. Is it ok for me to just set the valve springs on top of the shims and leave it or should i use a spring cup too since the pocket is so big it seems like the spring could shift around in there maybe but i dunno. Should i use a spring cup?

i think you have your terms mixed up. a valve seat goes under the head of the valve, on the cylinder side of the head. waht you want to say is a spring cup. i'd use one if it were me.
