Hey guys- I was thinking about buying one of those seperate small hood scoops for my '83 Berlinetta 305 4-bbl. I was wondering, are those things illegal? I'm only gonna get a 4-inch one just to get a litte more air into the carb. thanks for the help!

 

they're not illegal. they can be installed just like your car can be painted, or a wing added, or GFX.....

It depends on local laws. Here where I live your not supposed to have a cowl hood that sticks up above 4in in the windshield or a scoop that sticks up more than 6in. But theres plenty of people running around with massive cowl hoods and scoops that belong on prostreet drag cars.
I suggest you ask a local speed shop thye usually can tell you, or just wait at a doughnut shop until a cop shows up
