where to find ecm's?

Ok, after wondering for a while why my car has been running like **** and thinking it was a sensor or something, I found out that whoever owned my car before didn't have an ecm in it. I also found 2 extra ecm's in my trunk. Stupid me. Well, I'd like to know where I can buy a new ecm other than a junk yard. Any ideas? If I have to I'll try to dig one up in a junk yard, but finding the right one might be a pain in the *** . Thanks for any help.

I think the only place to get a new one would be though a GM dealewr. Just about any autopatrs store will/should be able to get you a remanufactured one.

Pricewise, you might me ahead looking thourgh the many online parts places, since you have two spares (have you installed either? and do you know if they are correct for your car?) you can send one in for a core and minimize the cash outlay.

There's no such thing as a "new" ECM. They quit making them years ago. Remanufactured is all you'll find other than used.

Also, the core on a reman'd ECM is typically more than the cost of the rebuild. For reason stated in paragraph 1 above.
