Overheating

I have a 92 Camaro RS 305. The engine loves to overheat in stop and go traffic. Even waiting in the drive thru lines at McDonalds becomes a challenge. I have replaced the water pump, heater core and radiator in the past few months and the car is still having this problem. Once I'm moving again the engine cools down very fast so I don't think its my thermostat. If somebody could give me an idea of what else to check or if this is just something camaros do....anything would help!

Fan, fan, fan. The fan is probably not getting power or is getting power and is burned up. The fan is what takes the place of the moving air you have while you drive. Also, the may be kicking on and blowing, but it's not blowing enough air.

350 with stealth intake, holley carb, 470 lift cam. 700r4 with .5 boost valve, vette servo, tci lock-up kit, B&M megashifter. Richmond 3.73 gears, powertrax locker, timkin bearings, synthetic lube. Custom 3 inch single into 2 2.5 pipes. 1 1/2 drop springs, 1 5/16 solid front sway bar, 1 inch rear bar, custom subframe connectors, custom LCA relocation brackets. Kobel ground FX, currant red metallic paint. Lots of other stuff...

What makes you think it's overheating? i.e., what are the symptoms?

If it's just coolant spewing out, try a new radiator cap.
