rebuild help

I have an 88 tpi 5.7 and was wondering about how much i should expect to pay to have it rebuilt? No real mods, just rebuild to natural form.

How much are you willing to do yourself? Pull the engine and take it to them, have them do all the work and then you reinstall? Or, disassemble it, have them do the machine and special tools required work, you reassemble? Do you want the heads rebuilt? Just a rering and bearing job? Or, new pistons as well? Or, rebore with oversized pistons?

I would imagine if you drove your car to the shop, had the whole thing gone through including heads and drove it home when it was done, you'd be looking at a cool 3 grand or more. If you settle for a simple rering/bearing job and do most of the work yourself, you're looking at a few hundred.

Where you fall between those bounds is up to you.
