Help with adjusting valve lash!
Ok so i have my motor right now at TDC for #1 firing and #6 exhaust. So first i adjust a rocker till theres no play in the pushrod and then tighten the pushrod another 3/4 of a turn after 0 play is reached with the pushrod. And then after that i spin the pushrod till i feel drag and go another 3/4 of a turn on the nut? Is this correct or i'm i not understanding the write up.
Also i need help with which valves are the intake ones and which are the exhaust. And also the numbering on the engine cylinders. For instance what is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.
Thank you guys for all your time. I just need to know if the top information is correct, and what is what for the intake/exhaust valves and the engine cl numbers. later

ill try and find the little picture for it but
#1 cyl is the drivers side front
#2 cyl is passenger side front
#3 cyl is driver side 2nd jug back
and so on...
As for me i just tighten till 0 then use my old cut up valve covers to tighten till they stop chattering.
Edit:

Personally, I think 3/4 turn preload is too much. I try to stay at 1/4 to 1/2 turn at the most to prevent lifter pump up and valve float at higher RPMs. As long as the lifter is somewhere within it's lash adjustment range, it will maintain correct lash and be quiet.
