I would like to modify my fuel pick-up a the tank to allow for more volume. What has been done in this area? How can I modify the fuel tank with a larger pick-up and fuel line? Has anyone mounted a cell in place of the stock tank? If so how?

Your ideas are appreciated.

You probably can install a fuel cell in the trunk with large line and an inline pump for you hp requirements.

You horsepower divide by two is your gph requirement for the fuel pump. Then what ever is recommended for the fuel pump to flow that is what is needed.

Do you mean remove the present fuel tank and put a cell in it's place? Or put a cell on the deck in the hatch? If I mount a cell in the hatch is that legal? Will I get flack if I take it to the strip?
I guess it's OK if properly vented???

I believe you can have it inside the vehicle as long as it is a real fuel cell and is strapped down and vented outside. Please take the intiative and call like a drag strip to verify.

I read some circle track rules, don't think it requires a fire wall.

You can weld a sump onto a stock tank, thats what I did. The sump has 2 1/2npt outlets. Then you can run a braided or steel line to your pump any size you want.

Thanks for the inputs.
I considered a sump on the stock tank but I didn't know how or where to place it. I have a 4" Mufflex exhaust and it doesn't leave a lot of room for the sump.
Where did you place the sump on the stock tank? Would you happen to have a pic of it that you would share?
If I can find a place to mount a sump, that's what I would prefer. I'd block off the stock feed lines and return.

Thanks,

you would have to PM the guy who tossed that pic up in that thread. As you can see he could only sump it because he went to duals over the axles

Yeah. I think that'show he get's away with the sump. I have a 4"muffler running just behind my tank. I just don't see how to get a sump mounted on the stock tank with my set-up.

Thanks for the thread. Maybe I ahve to go in through the top.

I have a dual 3in exhaust sytem with turn downs before the rear axle so the sump works well for me. I doubt you could do it with a 4in muffler back there but you might be able to make it work dpending on the size of the muffler. I don't have any pictures of my sump but heres a link with a picture of IHI's sump setup. Mine is setup almost identical, same type of sump and same pump location.
