Hydrostatic Lock? and ICE?!?
For those of you not fimiliar with NJ weather, Saturday morning brought 60 degrees and downpour while in the evening we received 30 degrees and 3 inches of snow.
Unfortunately the downpour filled my cylinders (at least one) with water. I have a Formula with an open bulge hood, and an open element air cleaner. Then the cold air (as low as 20 degrees lately) I'm sure has frozen the water in my cylinders.
How much trouble am I looking at? I know I can just pull the plugs, and turn the motor over to get the water out (after it thaws), but my concern is the ICE. Hopefully it had enough room to spread as it froze, but could anything have been damaged internally? And how would I know?
Any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks,
KZad

I think it depends on how much got in there. If you can see it coming up through the carb then that might be a problem. Otherwise hopefully it didn't. You should know if anythign is hurt by how it runs after. If it smokes or anything. I mean, it's not like it's a closed system like when your coolant freezes, so hopefully it could have just expanded upwards and be fine.

That's exactly what I was hoping to hear. I doubt very much got in there. This is the second time, last time was in the summer, and there wasn't more than a few cups of water in there. Still enough to cause problems though.

Just an update, since I see I had forgotten.
I had the car towed to my garage where it sat in the heat for a little while. I guess it was long enough for it to thaw out, because when I tried to start it, it turned right over. Slowly, but surely.
I let it run for a good 20 minutes to get good and hot. Everything idled and ran just fine. It's back on the road for about 3 weeks with no problems (knock on wood).
Thanks for the help.
