i was wondering, i am installin dart 200cc heads w/ 1.6rr and stealth ram, 3.73 10 bolt rearend, shift kit, 2800-3200 stall, stock internals, 150 wet shot of Nitrous, and custom burnt chip(pcmforless.com)....i was wondering if i would have the problem of maxing 3rd gear out without my cam installed?the cam i am buying later will be the zzx cam, but money is short and wanted to see if i could get away without it for a few months??? i got a lot of street racing events at local tracks, and was hoping that the gears would not hurt me at the end of the track...thanx for any/all of your help

I'd say with the 373 you will run out of gear. My car has 373 and I run out about 3/4 track and I'm at 5200rpm. The cars running 13.1 at 104mph.

 

ok, with my current setup, gasket matched heads and tpi intake and 120 dry shot, i ran 13.0 @107 with my 3.45 gears, all stock except for the Nitorus and the porting......kinda sucks that i will run out of gear.....thanx for the help

you can always step up to 28" tall slicks, they are good for another 8-9 mph in the quarter easily.

 

well im buyin the rear axle form a guy and was gonna start car build up ASAP. the rear end i was gonna buy in 2 weeks, and then send car to buddy to do the stall and shift kit, thenend prom in for burning...but now it seems im gonna have to buy the cam so i dont run out of gear....i was gonna do everything but the cam jsut so that i could go to RSD and SCC but now it looks like car will be down for a while inorder to get it built all the way...kinda sucks cuz it was late into last season as well....
