some progress finally!
So how many times have you been working on your car and thinking to yourself, "what i would do to not have this damn smog pump in my way"
Well standing in my garage today all i see is little more then a short block.
Motor has something wrong internally probably a spun bearing and needs to be pulled so yesterday we tore into it. Smog pump was the first to go and man does it look pretty without it, i dont think i can justify putting it back in now that its gone.
The a/c is just pushed off to the side, i would really like to keep my a/c but im not sure if thats possible without the smog pump pulley. If its not oh well.
Past that got the intake pulled, valve covers off and pushrods pulled out. Got stuck at the headers i have these old school slp headers that are completly retarded and the bolts are in such sketchy places, going to be a days work just to unbolt the freaking thing, probably be forced to get new headers which sucks.
I knew the heads were ported but didnt know how much. The intake base and the intake side of the heads are both ported quite nicely and gasket matched. Could probably use some smoothing but meh. Cant wait to get the heads off to see the bowl work. Going to invest a little bit of machining into the valvetrain because you can tell thats stock.
The motor when it goes back in will be as follows:
-HSR intake
-ported stock heads
-cam will probably be comp cams XR276HR 224/230 duration, .503/.510 lift, 112 lsa
-1.6roller rockers
-Either current SLP headers or if i need new ones hooker shorties into a 3" mandrel bent y pipe that i already have
-52mm BBK throttle body designed for an lt1
And some other miscelanious parts
Pictures will probably come on wed! im getting excited!
