is there going to be anything salvagable?

when i take out my 305? i think i spun a bearing and something went wrong on the top end too since when i took my carb off there was chunks of metal in my intake manifold, so im pretty sure the heads wont be worth anything. is there anything that would be salvagable? not to re-use but that would be of use to someone else? rods, crank, etc?

what are your plans for the new motor? You are probably going to re-use the accessories right?

you could re-use the heads, i'd say they're worth using, i'm not sure how you got chunks of metal in the intake though...?

carb is probably still good.

Maybe if he fragged an intake valve and the metal was pulled back up in the intake from the vacuum of an adjacent cylinder's intake valve opening.... Hot Rod had a ford motor blow up on their dyno in the latest mag and this happened to them, it broke a valve, blew the piston apart and broke the conn rod, and pieces of metal from the piston ended up in the intake mani and made their way to adjacent cylinders....heads were FUBAR after that

Hard to say what's salvageable man, start yanking **** off, you'll find out real fast what might be okay and what definitely isnt

My boat eng (sbc350) had an exhaust valve shatter. Found debris in 3 other cyls. Eng knocked pretty bad. Turned out the bottom end was ok. All the racket was from debris impalled into the pistion hitting the heads. Machine shop guy was able to clean up the heads and I was able to re-use them. Goes to show, you just don't know what's up until you break down the eng.
