valves are out, how to clean them

Transmission: 700R4
valves are out, how to clean them
so im rebuilding my heads, i got the valves out and they have alot of carbon build up.. Is it okay if i hit the valves up with a wire brush? i dont want to nick them up or anything. MAybe parts cleaner? or is it okay if i hit it with a wire brush.

I chucked mine into a drill press, and used sandpaper. Back cut them a bit. chamfered the front face of the intakes, radiused the front face of the exhaust valves, and backcut them both. then finished with scotchbrite, then autosol polish.
