valves are out, how to clean them

valves are out, how to clean them

so im rebuilding my heads, i got the valves out and they have alot of carbon build up.. Is it okay if i hit the valves up with a wire brush? i dont want to nick them up or anything. MAybe parts cleaner? or is it okay if i hit it with a wire brush.

Axle/Gears: moser 9" 4.11
wire brush chucked into a cordless drill works well for me.

Transmission: T10, hurst shifter
Axle/Gears: 10 bolt, true-trac, 3.73
I chucked mine into a drill press, and used sandpaper. Back cut them a bit. chamfered the front face of the intakes, radiused the front face of the exhaust valves, and backcut them both. then finished with scotchbrite, then autosol polish.
if you're interested in the mods over just cleaning them, search for the thread I posted in with this info, "modifying valves" or something like that.
