Ignition module question
Wow, looks like this thread got lost in the changeover to the new board, sorry, but I'll have to repost and start over.
My question is about the 8-pin HEI module in the computer controlled dizzys. Specifically, how low a coil primary resistance can it safely drive? I've looked at several of the aftermarket external HEI coils, and they have primary resistance specs betweem 0.3 ohms and 0.45 ohms. I don't know what the OEM measures. So, can the module safely drive these low resistance coils without blowing up? Here's the data:
MSD 8226 - .45 ohms
Accel 140011 - .30 ohms
Crane 730-0491 - .43 ohms
Summit 850012 - .315 ohms
Which is suggested?
Thanks!
