Would you buy these?
Almost Spam, but not quite. More of a feasability study. I'm thinking about starting to produce these intake bolts in my spare time. It's basically just a bolt with the head machined. One style is a smooth taper, one has a flat with a cone in the middle. Because there is no real load on an intake, removing the material does not compromise the bolt's strength. There is still enough material left to get a socket or box wrench on. I'm thinking about pricing them around $20 a set for grade 5, $30 for stainless. They would fit all standard SBC carbed and TBI intakes. I want to see if theres any interest in them before I spend the time to machine a box full. So, would you buy these? Thanks for the input.

Stainless hex head SBC bolts from ARP are $14 at Jegs.
Though, pertaining to the part, I would prefer more contact area between the tool and the fastener at the hex (i.e. taller head).

Sorry bud, but i do have to agree with stekman. I would imagine it to be really easy to strip these while putting them on...

Thanks for the replys. I thought about that very problem. It was also a concern of mine, so I tested it. I cut a bunch of different tapers with lots of different head thicknesses. With my Craftsman sockets and wrenches, there is enough head area on these so they don't readily strip. You have to get to about half that thickness before they are easy to strip. Obviously, if you take them on and off alot, they aren't the best choice, but if you only going to do it a few times, you should be ok.
And I know about the ARPs, but they are plain old stainless non pointed bolts that blend in with a sea of standard fasteners. Mine are intended to stand out, or atleast be something different

Those do look neat but, I agree with the others, not enough meat to hold the wrench on. If these were on for a long time and you had to remove them the would round off.
Not to mention I would make a lot of trips to the ER getting stitches after my wrench slipped and my arm scraped over the point.
Neat idea though.
