Code 24 - no speedo, but car runs fine...?

Code 24 - no speedo, but car runs fine...?
My car just threw a code 24 today and the speedo stopped working. From what I have been able to gather, if the ecm doesn't see the vss signal, the car will run crappy. My car runs fine, so I must assume the vss is functioning. What else will cause a code 24 and disable the speedo?

the vss may not be sending proper pulse to the ecm but still functioning or known as a lazy sensor check your cruise control for functionality if u have that option it wont usually work if the vss is fried / dying

My car didn't come with cruise control. Any other things I can check?
