general E-prom questions...

so i read that article on here where they compare the various reburnt chips and im definately interested. i have a few general questions though...

first of all...will i see a hit in reliability? i know a lot of times with modifications a lot of times things break more often. what can i expect from a reburnt chip

what kind of gas mileage hit will i see? i usually dont drive to hard but i have been known to lay on the throttle from time to time.

and finally, i have a coolant throttle bypass that i just need to install, and i plan to some day get a new intake/headers/exhaust does that mean ill have to get the chip reburnt again to adress the mods?

i dunno if it makes a difference but i have a 92 z28 305 5-speed with the dual cats.

thanks in advance

Are you interested in burning a chip yourself, or having someone do it for you?

If thats the case, I'd just save your money and not bother, or buy the stuff to do it yourself and learn a new skill... There's plenty of resources with which to learn, and today, its easier than ever before to tune these ECMs.

A chip is a chip, as far as reliability goes. The Tune used in the chip might drasically effect the life expectancy of the engine.

Depends on the chip.

No.

There's more to a chip then just timing, and fuel. You can to some degree taylor a chip to your driving style, BUT that takes time, and if you were to pay someone else to do that for you, you'd be looking at $$$$.

IMO, it's far more cost effective to buy the equipment, and learn how to do your own. AND as a side beenie, you'll get allot more versed in diagnositics.

what kind of stuff does your average chip do to hurt life expectancy?
