good? deal on LT1
hey guys a buddy of mine runs a wrecking yard up here and he just got a 95 trans am in. the car was torched, and the fire got hot enough to melt one of the front rims. i can pick up the engine and tranny for dirt cheap, but is it worth it? i mean the plenum and throttle body melted, harness, etc. is all gone. would the heads and block be salvageable? how bout the tranny? its a 4L60 or whatever.

I wouldn't touch it, all the small bits you'll need to get it running will cost you a small fortune aftermarket, and from another wreckers, you'll be making the rest of their motor useless, so they'll also charge an arm and a leg...
plus chances are the motor is shot anyway.
