rear diff size

i need to replace axel seals on a 87 z28 -the parts guy said i need to know which rear size i have -what are some ways to tell the difference between the 7and5/8 rear and the 7and 3/4 rear??thanks

Count the bolts on the rear cover:
10=10-bolt 7 5/8 dia ring gear.
9 = 9-bolt 7 3/4 dia ring gear.
But my guess its a 10-bolt.

I'm lazy, seals are cheap. Buy both sets, take your axle apart and return the ones you don't need.
