Vapor Lock and Smog.... Please Help!!!!!!

hey all, been awhile since i posted but im in some need of help. i'll try to make this short and sweet. i swapped a 350 into my 84 TA and when i did i was getting mad vapor lock. i now have hooker 2055's on the car and have done the fuel pressure regulator with a return to the tank deal. the regulator is mounted on the driver side above the tire where the windshield washer resv. used to be and the fuel lines are all routed as far from heat sources as i can get them. I also have the line goin from the regulator to the carb insulated with one of those spiffy heat shield sleeve things. ive put 5,000 miles on the engine with this set up now and not vaporlocked ever since i put the regulator in. now for my problem, im trying to pass smog and the car died right b4 the guy tried to test it, vapor lock. i can replicate the problem by revin the motor at 3k rpm a few minutes in my driveway and then it will die after idleing a few minutes. what else can i possibly do to keep it from vapor locking durring the smog test? this is really so very super frustrating and any help is appreciated, thanks.

current fuel pump is an electric by the tank and it seems like its more then enough pressure, but it goes to the regulator anyways and i dont think its a problem in that line, think its more likely the line between the regulator and the carb......but i have that insulated,...so yea, i unno
