Help!!! Vin # location?
I bought a 1987 z28 about a month ago. I was prepping the car for paint and just happened to glace at the vin number in the door jam. It is diffrent than the vin on the title, the vin in the center console is also diffrent than the vin on the title but the same as the one on the door. The vin on the door comes back as a car that has been stolen sence 1991. The vin in the dash below the inspection sticker is rusted out. Is there a vin on the frame or anything so I can verify if I have a stolen car or not?
Thanks - Charlie.

Damn...
There should be a sticker in the glove box in the trunk. Check if that has the VIN number. I know it has the RPO codes. If all three match, you have a stolen car my friend.

There are vin number decals on the inside of the rear fenders. The rear luggage pockets may need to be removed. I have no interior so I can easily see mine. There's a vin sticker on the underside of the deck lid but you need to remove paneling to see it. It's right behind the latch.
The rear inner fender decals would be your best bet. Since they're part of the main body, there little chance of these parts coming from some other car.
Stuff like doors, center console etc can be easily replaced from donor cars as a way to part out stolen parts.
