quick timing question

what is the base timing advance for our cars? I mabout to put in the distributor and need to know which timing mark to put it in at. Should I advance it at all to aadjust for my setup? any input would be great!

Axle/Gears: 10 bolt, true-trac, 3.73
you can use 6* advanced. Once the car is running, you can adjust that a bit.

before or after

is that 6* before TDC or after? Pretty sure its after but just wanted to make sure.
