1LE won't start after sitting. Fuel pump?

After sitting for 4+ years, I have the urge to restore my '91 1LE. The car was my daily driver for a couple of years, the I had transmission troubles. I had the tranny rebuilt twice, and it still didn't drive right. So I bought a Jetta for a daily driver and the camaro sat my parants house for a few years. After seing how bad the south florida elements are for cars (body rust everywhere!) I decided it was a shame to ruin the car. I had it towed to my house because it wouldn't start.

It wouldn't crank, so I bough a new battery. Now it cranks just fine, but it's not getting fuel. I drained as much gas as I could, and put about 4 gallons of fresh gas along with some gas treatment. I also changed the fuel filter. Still no go. I don't hear the fuel pump kick on when I put the ingnition to "on". I checked the fuse by the battery, looks good. I have not replaced the relay yet. I did a serch and read that putting 12v to the "G" plug on the diag port should let you test the pump, but my port has metal connector where the "G" plug should be. Why would this be? Anyway, what else can I try before I have to have it towed to a shoup and have them rape me

You can see pics of the car's current sorry state here 06.08.06

How much should I expect to pay to have the fuel pump changed?

I don't have the tools or the space to do it myself. How much should a shop charge?

I would first replace the relay or somehow verify its good before you even consider changing the fuel pump.

If you havent done it before, doing it yourself without a lift is a PAIN IN THE A S S . The fuel pump is in the tank, you have to drop the rearend before you drop your tank. Having a mechanic do it will cost you an arm and a leg prob close to 1K with parts and labor. I think the Fuel Pump is about $100.00 on www.tpiparts.net and its the same one that came on your 1LE from the factory.

But I would first check everything else, that fuel pump is the last thing you wanna do.

Hope it's not the fuel pump, and I wish you luck getting the old girl back to prime condition In the meantime, take all that oxidized paint off and throw on a coat of flat black, get her looking good again, on a budget haha
