For the first minute or so after starting it cold in the morning my car runs ok, but after a few minutes it seems to bog when i give it gas and i can hear it backfire a lot when i get off the gas. 350 TPI, new fuel filter, sprk plugs and wires.

Could be a bad CTS .... they do that . Also check the codes yet ?

My first thought would be that your problem is with closed loop operation, considering it takes a couple of minutes of warming up to reach that point. This kind of problem usually is caused by a bad 02 sensor but can also be caused by things like your AIR pump diverter valve pumping air into your exhaust manifolds when it should be pumping to your catalytic converter. Try the 02 sensor first. Pull it out. If it has a white coat on it, then its bad. I'd recommend replacing it anyway, since its fairly cheap and goes bad after a couple years anyway.
