need engine/tranny help

i bought a 1986 firebird with a chevy 350 motor swap and a rebuilt tranny but wen i put it in gear the engine just doesnt wanna do the work, ive been told it could be the ignition controle module, could this be the problem? what do u guys think?

ok, we need a bit more info here...

The engine bogs when put into gear or does it slam hard into gear something like a clutch being dropped on a manual?

If it just bogs down when put in gear usually some more timing advance helps, check the timing and adjust as neccisary.

If it slams had into gear thats most likely the TCC stuck locked. After a quick check that their isnt power going to the solenoid at all times you will have to pull the pan and check the solenoid it could be jammed.

no it doesnt slam it boggs down and stalles out, i tried adjusting the idle but that didnt help at all.

What is the idle speed set at?

Initial advance?

Or better yet, what induction? carb i assume...

Computer controlled? or all old school (mech/vac adv dizzy ect..)
